Abhinav Shukla, Anupamaa star Madalsa Sharma, wink sensation Priya Prakash Varrier, Urvashi Rautela, Pranati Rai Prakash, Hiten Tejwani and Seerat Kapoor shared with us their favourite memories from school days.
Here’s what these celebrities said:
Madalsa Sharma: In my view, patriotism implies being honest and fair to your fellow citizens without discrimination of cast, creed, rich or poor. And fulfilling all my responsibilities like keeping our surroundings clean, environment awareness and paying our taxes honestly. Every year, there was flag hoisting in my building as well as in school, so I used to participate in the game and activities. After the ceremony there used to be a party where we used to have a get together with our friends and family. Throughout the day, we would listen to patriotic songs and distribute small pin-up flags, our Tiranga.
Priya Prakash Varrier: During school days, we used to participate in various activities. It feels very nostalgic thinking about those moments where my heart fills with patriotism. I wish I could relive those moments. I used to participate in those events and now I really miss doing all the preparations for Independence Day. My favourite movie till date is Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and Chak De! India's title song tops my Independence Day tracklist.
Urvashi Rautela: The schools and colleges I studied at conducted flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural events. A week before the day of celebration, we used to enjoy the time of preparation we spent in school. Skipping classes during practice was a part of our happiness, and we used to be over-excited in preparing ourselves for the performances too. We spent more than half-a-day in school practicing for march-past, speech, dance, sports, cultural activities and more.
Pranati Rai Prakash: I used to attend Independence Day functions at school and in the army cantonments. We’d have flag hoisting and nation anthem singing, followed by a great meal, and the school would give samosas, laddoo and chocolate. I used to colour the National flag days prior and put it around and outside the house and wear the national flag sticker on my school uniform.
Seerat Kapoor: I love our heritage, art, literature, music, tradition and culture. There's a unique sense of warmth that resides within the hearts of our people. We are a land of the greatest diversity yet somewhere the spirit of togetherness binds us all. India is love.
Hiten Tejwani: Firstly, I would like to wish everyone a very happy Independence Day. Happy 75th Independence day to all. I am proud of my country. I feel proud of hearing and watching and knowing about all freedom fighters, who fought for our independence. I remember during my school days, we used to participate in different activities and witness the flag hoisting ceremony. It's a different feeling, when you salute the national flag, you feel love for the country.
Abhinav Shukla: Patriotism to me means following all rules laid down in the constitution and making a constant effort to add value to my and my fellow countrymen’s lives. Irrespective of our profession, we can always create value, inspire people and move our country forward. Jai Hind!
Here's wishing you all A Very Happy Independence Day!
